Frequently asked questions and answers for Visage Login
  • How do I replace the text that says "Mac OS X"?  I can't type in the field.

The "title" that says "Mac OS X" is actually an image, not text. So you'll need to drag an image into the image well (don't type). We have several sample title images that you can use. Just drag a title image from the sample page into Visage Login.

Your title image can be any format natively supported by Mac OS X, such as JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG, pict, or PDF. Apple's default title image is 140 pixels wide by 24 pixels high. For best results, your image should be a similar size, although it can be wider. If you're making your own text-based image, I've found that Lucida Grand bold size 18 works pretty well, as long as you create your image so there is no additional border around the text. You can use any graphics program to make your image.

  • I lost my order confirmation email with my serial number, can you help?

Go to eSellerate's support page. Enter your email address and they will send you a detailed listing of all your orders, including all of your serial numbers. Your serial number will look something like this: VsgLogn000-04FF-SW1R-3GDL-7384-LG55. Once you have your serial number, check out the instructions for re-entering your serial number.

  • I re-installed OS X. Can I re-enter my serial number for Visage Login?

    Yes! It's easy:
    1. Open the Visage Login application.
    2. Click the "Register" button in the bottom right hand corner of the window.
    3. Copy your serial number from your order confirmation email and paste it into the box that says "Already registered? Enter your serial number:". If you've lost your order confirmation email from eSellerate, see the instructions for obtaining your serial number.
    4. Click the "Validate" button.
    5. After the serial number is validated, click the "Close" button.

  • Why do I only see a solid blue background instead of my custom login background image? Or, why don't I see one of my other login screen customizations?

Visage Login needs to be run under an Admin account. By default, the main account for a Mac is an Admin account. Also, make sure you click the "Save" button after making any changes in Visage Login.

  • How do I uninstall Visage Login?

    1. Revert any customizations to Apple's default settings using Visage Login.
    2. Drag the Visage Login application to the trash.

  • I have an awesome image that I use with Visage Login. Where can I post it for the whole world to enjoy?

If you have a cool image that you use with Visage Login, send it to me. If I really like your submission I'll include it as a sample on my site or in future Visage distributions. You'll be famous! Check out the current collection of login panel images and login background images.

  • I want to tell you how awesome you are. Where can I send my hate mail... err, I mean my fan letters?

Check out the support page for contact information.
